Ioannidis of Stanford University has published a ranked list of the top 2% of scientists in the world in PLOS Biology in 2019; his peer-reviewed article ranks more than 100,000 scientists, out of ~7 million in the world, based publication indicators with standardized information on citations, h-index, coauthorship-adjusted hm-index, citations to papers in different authorship positions, and a composite indicator.
