About the Carbon Management & Sequestration Center

The inter-disciplinary program, started in January 2001, housed within the School of Natural Resources, is an integral part of The Ohio Agricultural Research and Development Center of the College of Food, Agriculture and Environmental Sciences. The program focuses on understanding and enhancing the science, management and policy of carbon(C) within terrestrial (i.e., soil and biotic) and aquatic (wetlands, reservoirs and flood plains) pools, their linkages with the atmospheric pool, and the effects of anthropogenic perturbations on these pools and linkages among them. It involves research, teaching and extension activities that address basic and applied issues of C dynamics in relation to the accelerated greenhouse effect. The program works in close collaboration with relevant programs in other colleges within The Ohio State University, and fellow institutions in the U.S. and internationally.
